Have you met Inspector Marco?

He’s a detective in Cardiff, the capital of Wales. He loves his mother and football - not always in that order.

And he loves to lock up the bad guys.

In Speechless the first novel Marco is up against a killer determined to silence his victims by cutting out their tongues. Can Marco stop him?

Does a man deserve to die? In the second Marco adventure a well-connected banker is found dead in his car in the middle of Cardiff. When a member of Marco’s team is captured he knows he faces a race against time to bring the killer to justice

In the final novel in the box set - Somebody Told Me - Marco faces the challenge of unearthing secrets from the criminal underworld they would prefer to keep hidden.

“If you like British crime novels don't hesitate to try this author - you won't be disappointed.” - review

Don’t miss this box set of three novels because we all love a gripping mystery series.

Bad Blood Inspector Marco Series Box set Books 13 edition by Stephen Puleston Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Bad Blood - Inspector Marco Series Box set Books 1-3 I have enjoyed this series from the first in the set. Well paced and excellent crime drama. Interesting character in Inspector Marco. Wonderful setting in Wales, a bonus! I look forward to more books by this author!
Inspector Marco is complex. So are his cases. Here are three of them and they are all a great reads. Each story has their own characters and issues. These are excellent mystery/thrillers. I highly recommend them.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. There are three episodes of Inspector Marco in this book. They held my interest and are very well written. They are great mystery / thrillers full of twists and turns. I recommend them highly.
An excellent series of great mystery/thrillers. The stories are all very well written and contain realistic characters. Plenty of action with several twists and turns. The location of Wales added to the stories. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and would highly recommend them.
I received a copy of this book from the author and was not compensated for this honest review.
This is a compilation of books 1-3 in the Inspector Marco series.

Speechless – Introduces Welsh Detective Inspector John Marco. He’s a recovering alcoholic, divorced dad, trying to limit his cigarette consumption, and failing miserably at finding a work/life balance. The plot centers on human trafficking, and there are subplots involving Marco’s family, his estranged relationship with his son, and office politics, all of which make the story more realistic. I found one aspect of the plot disturbing -- dead bodies were turning up minus their tongues, which were found at other locations, and tongues that turned out to be from dead dogs turned up at other locations. It was a warning for people involved in the case to keep quiet. Initially the tongue thing was enough to make me reach for the delete key on my (I can’t abide violence to animals; people can get therapy, pets are pretty much at our mercy), but it turned out to be an extremely minor part of the plot, with thankfully little detail. Liked everything else about the book – tight writing, exciting situations, interesting characters, even the bad guys.

Another Good Killing – Glad I stuck it out. Book 2 was action-packed, edge of my seat reading, and no mention of tongues, canine or otherwise. (I think the tongue thing just put me off the first book.) In this story, Marco and his team are investigating the deaths of bankers and those related to them. The guilty party might be a disgruntled employee, or a member of a group of anarchists, or someone much more twisted. Added complications include the kidnapping of one of his team, and a traumatic injury to Marco’s young son. Puleston is good at communicating Marco’s cognitive dissonance between being a good parent and a great cop. I enjoyed the character development in this book. Ending was a satisfying surprise.

Somebody Told Me – In book 3 of this excellent series, Marco and the team are dealing with a gangland murder with ties to a cold case and personal ties to Marco’s family. The more they dig, the more they uncover possible official corruption, and definite shoddy police work. Marco is particularly chaffing at his latest supervisor – Acting Detective Inspector Dave Hobbs, Marco’s sworn enemy and a smarmy, lazy ass if there ever was one. He’s also trying to juggle a current relationship with a CSI officer, and the potential rekindling of a relationship with the mother of his son.

A couple of minor irritations with the series - the constant references to Marco’s five-cigarettes-a-day habit, and the harping on how he has to flash his lights and blow his horn to get people out of the way when he’s on the way to the scene of an emergency. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it, he’s struggling with smoking and maybe Welsh cop cars don’t routinely come with lights. But after the seventh repetition of either, it starts to get annoying. Perhaps it would have been less of an issue if I hadn’t binge-read the books. Setting those aside, though, I thoroughly enjoyed this series and want to read more about Marco and his team. The stories are well-written and interesting, the characters are multi-dimensional, and the author has a good grasp of office politics. I received this box set free from the author and I am voluntarily giving this review. I’m already a fan of Puleston’s other series involving Inspector Drake, so I would have eventually bought this compilation anyway.
I have just finished this fantastic collection of books by Stephen Puleston. Wow, what a ride, Stephen's books are gripping with a don't-put-it-down pull, I read through all three, one after the other and can't wait for more! I love Stephen's way of involving the reader in the small happenings in his character's lives so that one really feels part of what is going on, with continuity from book to book. DI Marco's problems with alcohol and smoking keep a thread of sympathy going for him and the family threads that run through the stories make for a realistic setting.
The intricate plots take a great deal of police work to solve, and this has been so well researched it always rings true. Authenticity has been further enhanced by moving Boyd out of his position as Marco's Sargent and the introduction of Lydia! The readers disappointment at losing Boyd is softened by bringing him in at odd times to aid the investigation with his new expertis, I see this as more true to real life than keeping the same set of characters constant. Well worth getting to know South Wales, and their Police department through this set.
I absolutely enjoyed the series immensely !
Enjoyed them all.
